阿多諾論指揮與管弦樂團

摘要


本文係以阿多諾(Theodor W.Adorno,1903-1969)於1961-62年於德國法 蘭克福大學演講《音樂社會學導論一十二篇理論講稿》(Einleitung in die Musiksoziologic,Zw61f theoretische Vorlesungen)一書中的第七篇,篇名為〈指 揮與管弦樂團一社會心理學觀點)為主,另輔以阿多諾另一本重要音樂散稿所 集結成的專論《貝多芬的音樂哲學》(Beethoven:The Philosophy of Music英譯 本)中有關貝多芬音樂與社會的關係論述作為本文相關議題的連結,嘗試將指 揮、管弦樂團、社會問的論述透過阿多諾及相關學者的觀點做進一步的討論, 試圖找出三者關係在音樂與社會中的意義及可能性。 木文的架構安排首先以目前音樂社會學文獻中有關指揮與管弦樂團的研 究現況作為基礎,再從阿多諾的論述中,將講稿內容分為「指揮與樂團是社會 的縮影」、「阿多諾論指揮」與「阿多諾論指揮與管弦樂團」三大議題來討論指 揮、管弦樂團的社會心理現象與社會意義。 研究發現阿多諾的論述內容包括管弦樂團與社會的關係、指揮的角色與 功能、權力的象徵、聽眾現象、指揮與團員問的合作關係與矛盾現象等議題, 都是音樂社會學中對於管弦樂團研究的延伸,指揮與樂團關係的外顯表徵及從 歷史或政治型態上的描述,都是指引性與探索性的研究素材。藉由指揮與樂團 及與社會現象間問題的反映,提供了一個新的研究議題與觀點,是後續研究中 可以發展與作為實證的基礎因此阿多諾的講述內容是一種觀察現象的延伸,具 有啟發性的意義。

This thesis is based on Theodor W. Adorno's(1903一1969)speech in University of Frankfurt in 1961-62, the "Introduction to the Sociology of Music" chapter 7 "Conductor and Orchestra: Aspects of Social Psychology". Except for the previous article, Adorno's another anthology "Beethoven:The Philosophy of Music" was put into this discussion, in which Adorno's fragment and texts on relationship between Beethoven's music work and society is relatively important to this thesis.Other than Adorno’s articles, some related researcher's essays are references in order to find the meanings and possibility of music and society through discussion on the relationship among conductor, orchestra and society. This thesis, firstly, draws a historical review based on contemporary sociology of music essays about conductor and orchestra. Secondly, Adorno's discourse is divided into three issues in order to discuss aspects of social psychology phenomena and social meanings. The three issues are:conductor and orchestra in themselves constitute a kind of microcosm in which social tensions recur and can be concretely studied一something comparable, on conductor, as well as on conductor and orchestra. This research finds Adorno's discourse concerning the relationship between orchestra and society, icon of power, audience phenomena, partnership and contradiction between conductor and crew is an important issue about sociology of music on orchestra. It highlighted research issues and exploration into the meanings of relationship between conductor and orchestra, as well as the narration of history or political pattern. Through the social phenomena of conductor and orchestra, it provides a new pattern, which could develop further research to some extend. Therefore, Adorno's critical speech can be a resource for future observation development.
