Performing Practice has being the crucial subject in historical musicology. It examines the practical performances in history and the relationship between the notation and the performing. Moreover, the interpretation of pieces has been a major issue for research in many years. In the second half of the twentieth century, the trend of performance practice issue not only concentrates on notation, but also aimed at variable types of performing, performer’s styles, and sound research. This paper will be focus on the relevant subjects after the emergence of recording in the 20th Century. It explores the traditional topic on performing practice, the relevance of music and performances, recording technology and related academic research, the mass media and music life, faithfulness to the composer, performing style, and the changing and development of interpretation of works.
