“Lost beauty” refers to incidents in the past and how lost time is recovered and returned to the original state through painting. Therefore, through paintings, one reminisces about or makes amends to the past. The theme of paintings are based upon past experience, be it places one can never visit again, childhood memories, or emotional moments deep in one’s mind. With the passing of time, one may encounter again words or images which has touched one’s heart, or even visit old places and evoke memories deep down inside. Memories continue to flood and cover one’s mind until one experiences past experience again. This study is divided into four chapters, exploring how the artist continues to extensively explore images and categorizes the different types of images to connect to past experience in her memory. Consequently, through the process of painting, the artist brings back memories and reflects upon them under the same time and space. The study depicts how the artist, through connections of images and through painting, tries to bring back and experiences and memories which have become vague or are lost because due to the passing of time. Chapter 1 begins from images (from movies, photographs or visual data) and concentrates on photographs. After extensively going through images, the focus centers on how to select a theme as the motif of art creation. The artist also reflects upon how the select process from an imagery perspective. Chapter 2 focuses on the artist’s life experience and earliest memories of childhood and family. As the artist reminisces about the past, the truthfulness to these memories is gone. What is left behind is the projection and imagination of the artist’s memory of the good old days which have passed. Chapter 3 focuses on the collection of works. The Playground Collection highlights childhood memories and how current life experience is related to different moments, incidents, images, as well as the subtleties in life. The theme of discussion surrounds One of those Days and the Playground Collection. Chapter 4 goes back to the language of painting per se, and especially highlights elements that appear in the works of the artists, including moving shadows, whiteness, and the temporal and the physical elements of painting, etc. This is an attempt to respond to memories using painting as a medium.
