《白兔記》為宋元四大南戲之一,且為明代五大傳奇,敘述生腳劉知遠由「年乖運蹇」至於「發跡變泰」的際遇變化,以及李三娘恪守貞節,含悲受苦,終至苦盡甘來的命運轉折,本劇在中國戲曲史上深具重要地位,歷來各劇種亦盛演不衰,尤以〈看瓜分別〉、〈磨房產子〉、〈井邊相會〉等折子戲演出最為膾炙人口、動人心弦,不只能做為舞台演出本,也能當作案頭文學以資賞讀。本文透過三種現存完整明刊本:成化本、富春堂本、汲古閣本的主題呈現、人物塑造與情節發展之比較,討論同屬明傳奇的汲本與富本白兔記,為生腳劉知遠的負心形象翻案,且強化旦腳李三娘之貞節形象,並將迫害劉、李二人的加害者由哥哥轉變為嫂嫂等情況,由分析明代社會風尚、理學盛行以及劇作家身分之轉換等方向分析其成因。

It deals with the story of Liu Chih Yuan and Li San Niang. Starting as a frustrated and depressed young man, Liu Chin Yuan turns out to be successful. As for Li San Niang. She abides by chastity and eventually leads a blissful life. This opera is very important in the Chinese opera history and has been extremely popular for. The three paragraph plays “watch melon differentiate”, “rub by house property son” and “meet by well” are the most-loved. The scenario can not only serves as the play for a drama, but also can be regarded as the desk literature. This document will compare three kinds of intact publication in existence, the Cheng Hua edition, the Fu Chun tang edition and the Ji Gu Ge edition . Then it discusses the theme, human characterization and the developments. Discuss the difference from the Fu Chun tang edition and the Ji Gu Ge edition during Ming Dynasty. These reverse a verdict for Liu’s faithless image and strengthens the cheste image of Li San Niang . The person who victimizes Liu and Li changes from Liu’s eldest brother to his sister-in-law.
