在台灣當代眾多音樂家中,張炫文(1942.11.27~2008.2.16)是一位頗具代表性的音樂家,除了在教學上表現出高度的熱忱與前瞻外,也醉心於音樂創作,其作品在台灣音樂界佔有一席之地;而在音樂學的研究方面,張炫文亦不斷致力於台灣民間音樂的研究、推廣與教學,其中,在歌仔戲音樂與說唱音樂的研究更是具有權威性。對於一位音樂家而言,能夠兼顧上述表現,實屬難得。本文從相關碩博士論文、專書、曲譜、期刊、展演、研討會專文等文獻資料,以及從張炫文本人、親屬、友人、學生所提供的資料進行相關彙整,加以分析探討。本論文分為兩部份,第一部份將介紹張炫文的生平,第二部份則針對張炫文的音樂學相關研究、歌樂創作與音樂教育三者逐一探討。
Chang Hsuan-wen (張炫文1942-2006) was one of the most remarkable contemporary musicians in Taiwan, and he was not only a man of high enthusiasm and of great foresight in education, but also a composer who was truly devoting to music composition and had some important influences to Taiwanese music. He studied and taught Taiwanese traditional folk music and helped popularizing it; in addition, he really became an authority in the realm of Taiwanese opera and folk music. That is why he was so valuable and rare to all fields mentioned above.Interviews and document analyses would be two main research methods in this essay, which formed a two-part structure: the first part retrospect Zhang’s life history; and the second part focused on his contribution to music, including his research on Taiwanese traditional folk music, his compositions and efforts on music education.
