Go for Love focuses on another dimension of love which is prohibited in the eyes of society. This short film tells a story of a young lady whose wrong perspective on relationship was aggravated when her father was involved in an extra-marital affair. Her eagerness to be loved made her a third party to a married couple. As a victim of unhealthy relationship of her father, unwittingly she transmits the same bad experiences she went through to another young child. Guilt causes her inner conflict. To overcome this, she learns to let go and find her way through. Along the way, she learned more about her parents and made significant break-through in addressing some issues and misunderstandings she had with them. In order to give credence to this story, the author interviewed a few people who had been a third party in a relationship and also a lady who was a victim of her husband’s extra-marital affair. They shared about how the affair started, the emotions surrounding their relationship and how it ended up. In addition, an interviewee also related how she became suspicious of her husband’s extra-marital affair. Apart from interviews, the author surfed the internet to learn more about extra-marital affairs. To develop a strong character, the author referred the concept of mother-complex from psychoanalyst Carl G. Jung . Although this is a short film, the script structure follows the classical “three-act play” meaning, “the first act of set up, the second act of confrontation, and the third act of resolution.” The genre of this film is drama, therefore the acting and the entire production is represented in realism, which enforces the conflict and growth in the character.
