儘管如此,美好依舊—關於王亮尹的繪畫

摘要


本人的創作以描繪給人具幸福感的食物,早餐系列的荷包蛋、土司、貝果,還有甜點系列的布丁、甜甜圈、蛋糕與冰淇淋等。此系列作品企圖不只是帶給觀者繽紛眩目的視覺感受,而是希望奇妙地將香氣縈繞的味道與柔軟滑溜的感受帶到畫前,超越視覺範疇的表現。取悅感官的甜點,是在填飽飢餓後額外的慾望,是一種經濟力之上的奢侈享受,當甜食被品嚐過後華麗不再,又剩下些什麼? 第一章由「食物」在都會社會中扮演的位置、功能性、和影響心理層面的各種狀態,延伸到筆者自2004-2007年間的繪畫創作,如何從觀察資本主義社會的角度切入,經由觀察自身以外的環境變遷,發展出一系列以「甜點」為主題的繪畫創作。 第二章探討「靜物畫」與筆者一系列「甜點」繪畫作品之間的關係與對照。 第三章分析作品中的各項繪畫表現技法之物質性「滴流」、「層次」、「筆觸」及「構圖」,延伸至所發展出來的視覺語言和感官表現。 第四章討論作品中的慾望表現與當代藝術的關係,並舉出五位藝術家安迪•沃荷(Andy Warhol)、伊麗莎白.佩頓(Elizabeth Peyton)、偉恩.第伯(Wayne Thiebaud)、大槻素子(Motoko Otsuki)、傑夫.昆斯(Jeff Koons)與筆者從時代背景、形式技法、內容對象、探討議題做比較及對應。 結論,透過文字的撰寫,與實際創作的交互影響,不但讓自身對於創作的狀態更為清晰,且激發了此系列作品發展方向的更多可能性。

By painting a variety of agreeable food that brings joy, such as fried eggs, toast and bagel in the “Breakfast Series”, and pudding, donut, cake and ice cream in the “Dessert Series”, the artist seeks to amuse the audience not only by showing stunning, colorful visual effects, but also by vividly conveying the aroma and the soft, smooth taste of food. Besides, as the desserts portrayed signify our excess desires beyond physical satisfaction and luxury enjoyment of material prosperity, these paintings also inspire us to think: what remains after the desserts are consumed, when all the gorgeous, pleasing surfaces are gone? Chapter one begins by arguing the role and the function of food as well as its influences on people’s mentality, and then follows a discussion of the artist’s serial paintings on the subject of desserts during 2004-2007, which stems from the author’s observation of the transformation taking place in the capitalist society. Chapter two explores the relationship and contrast between still life and the artist’s serial paintings on desserts. Chapter three analyzes the materiality of visual language and sensual expression in the “Dessert Series” based on the use of “strokes” and “composition”, along with other unique expression techniques such as “dripping” and “gradation”. Chapter four investigates the expression of desire in the artist’s painting in the context of contemporary art by making comparison and contrast with the works of Andy Warhol, Elizabeth Peyton, Wayne Thiebaud and Motoko Otsuki through their historical background, form and technique, content and subject as well as major issues explored. The final chapter concludes that the process of thesis writing not only enables the artist to reconsider her artistic creation, but also suggests further possibilities for the development of these serial paintings on desserts.
