從論元角色觀點分析金融文本翻譯：以〈巴塞爾協定III〉為例

摘要

本文之研究文本為國際清算銀行巴塞爾委員會之〈巴塞爾協定III〉。〈巴塞爾協定III〉不僅反映金融危機所帶來的問題，更旨在統一全球之金融監管制度。本文所用之譯文為台灣主要金融研究機構金融研究管理委員會所發行，具有一定學術研究價值。〈巴塞爾協定III〉屬於資訊型文本，語意傳達直接，句法使用多元且靈活，因此文本內容具有一定程度的困難度。
本研究延伸利用語言學的論元角色(Dowty，1991)概念，發展出一套論元角色翻譯模型，並以此模型分析探討文本原文與譯文之語意與語用層面，進而提出建議譯文。本研究發現，論元角色翻譯模型不僅能幫助譯者區分句中之語意資訊，更可以針對金融文本中語境的效果形成翻譯策略；此模型亦可幫助譯者找到長句之核心資訊與理解主題焦點。
譯者在翻譯金融文本時，可以適時運用論元角色翻譯模型區分句子的結構，尋找對應的論元之功能與意義，更可根據動詞的特性理解整個句法之運用功能，可提升譯者之理解準確度。

“Basel III” of BIS is an international agreement of financial supervisory. It not only focuses on problems of the financial crisis in 2008, but also tries to lead the global financial system to a unified regulation and development. It is an informative text that conveys its information directly and using multiple grammatical constructions (including long sentences), presenting certain difficulties of understanding the text to translators. The Chinese translation of “Basel III” of BIS is from the Taipei Finance Foundation, a primary financial research institution in Taiwan, which makes the translation reliable and worthy of being studied.
This research has constructed a translation model based on the concept of Argument Roles (Dowty，1991) to analyze the semantic and pragmatic structures and meanings of the original text and Chinese translation of “Basel III” of BIS, as well as provided alternative translations if needed. This study found that the translation model can not only enable translators to find the meaning of sentences in the text, but also to obtain translation strategies to produce similar contextual effects of the original. The translation model also helps translators to locate the core meanings and the thematic information of long sentences in a financial text like “Basel III” of BIS.
When translating financial texts, translators may apply the translation model to classify sentence structures and search the function and meaning of their corresponding thematic roles, increasing the accuracy of their translation.
