Flipped classroom has brought lots of attention in the eductional cummunity in Taiwan recently. The word “flipped ”can easily be seen on magazines or papers. But what exactly flipped classroom is?And is it really that effective on improving students’ learning achievement or just a fab? This study hopes to deeply understand if fliiped classroom does work in Taiwan and the challenges would encounter during implementation by aynalyzing the cases in Taiwan and interviewing teachers who have flipped classroom experience. As for the effectiveness, the researchers use mid-terms or quizs as the pre/post test instrument. The teachers at present mostly use observation on the other hand. The results show that in most cases, students do improve their learning achievement, which includes test scores and performance in class.Addtionally,by aynalyzing the cases amd interview results. This study points out the existing challenges while implementing the flipped clasroom approach, including pre- implementation, before class and in class activities.Though the challenges varies due to the different processes, the time requriement amd the teacher’s abilities are the most mentioned challenges.Flipped classroom can’t happen over night, the teacher should make lots of adjustment base on the current situation and the student reaction. Flipped classroom does have it’s own advantages, but it’s still just one of the many instrutional tools .The use of a tool still depends on the teacher’s willingness, you just can’t force it.If a teacher tries to sovle student’s problem and is willing to make some changes,he/she might wind up building his/her own flipped classroom without realizing it.
