This thesis briefly present the background and the musical styles of the keyboard works of Rameau, Beethoven, MacDowell, and Bloch respectively. The program notes of the recital includes: 1. Jean-Philippe Rameau: Two Selected Keyboard Pieces I. Les Cyclopes-Rondeau, from Pièces de Clavecin II. La Poule, from Nouvelles suites de Pièces de Clavecin 2. Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 31 in A-flat Major, Op. 110 3. Edward Alexander MacDowell: Woodland Sketches, Op. 51 4. Ernest Bloch: Poems of the Sea Through a deep research, the compositional characteristics, the musical contents, and the interpretative points in performance practice have been throughly examined. The author expects to have the entirety understanding of these piano works, and inspire the interpretation in the process.
