單身無罪，擇其所「愛」：論張曼娟散文中的單身議題

摘要

台灣女作家張曼娟以往之作家形象較偏向言情、閨秀的「大眾文學作家」一類，並被認為在寫作主題上較無力道、且依附主流價值。然而她卻是台灣女性作家中，在書寫單身議題上，質與量均最佳的一位。本論文以爬梳張曼娟的散文作品中「單身議題」之書寫，挖掘出其在散文書寫中強調的「愛自己」、並鼓勵女性應主動掌握生命歸宿的主導權之主張。本論文進一步論述：張曼娟以自己為例，透過在其散文中對形成單身之類型、及單身女性被污名化之描寫，試圖扭轉大眾對於單身女性的迷思，使其有資格成為女性之「單身精神導師」，且其單身議題之書寫，也為台灣女性書寫提供新的寫作題材與方向。除此之外，張曼娟散文中的單身議題書寫所呈現出之柔性女性主義力量，亦可為抗爭式的女性主義做出補充與延展。

The Taiwanese female author Chang, Man-Chuan has been seen as a writer of popular literature, focused on household affairs and everyday trivia with little to say about women’s issues. She has, however, used her never-married self as an example to reflect deeply on issues confronting women in Taiwan who choose to remain single. In this thesis, careful examination of her collected works on prose and interviews reveals the emphasis she puts on “Love Oneself First” and demonstrates that in both the quantity and quality of her prose, her commitment to the cause of women being able to choose their own lifestyles is unsurpassed. By exploring the life of her own as a never-married woman, Chang, Man-Chuan has attacked traditional stereotypes toward single women and awakened women throughout Taiwan to new possibilities in the search of one’s own life meaning. Therefore, she is well-deserved to be seen as an “awakener” for single women in Taiwan. Offering new topics and directions for women’s writing in Taiwan, Chang, Man-Chuan’s “lower-case feminism” is a welcome complement to more strident forms of feminist resistance in literature produced in Taiwan.
