Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) directly affects purchasing performance and supply risk of enterprises. In today’s changing, globalized and competitive business environments, a company’s ability to structure IT systems and processes leveraging its vertical integration strength to improve supplier management related practices has become an important topic. In this exploratory study based on literature review and case study of a GPS firm, the author develops a process model for improving supplier relationships by mapping out a management system and process. Based on the supplier relational view of the case firm, the author found that several essentials need to be addressed for more notable improvement practice: (1) Suppliers related information feedback process need to be observed and changed, (2) IT system is built to communicate with suppliers on-line and monitor purchasing performance by searching categories of products and suppliers, and (3) Improve purchasing activities with SRM strategic orientation.
