Abstract In this research, in order to study the possible physiological effect on the body when treatment of stimulation of a single acupuncture point is made, an electrical instrument that can stimulate a single acupuncture point with “cupping” effect was developed and another one of the same function but without the “cupping” effect was also developed. The instruments were used on patients with pain at the Chien-Ching acupoint. The results of treatment using different instruments were analyzed. A Ryodoraku instrument and a VAS (Visual-Analogue Scale) were used to measure the twelve meridians physiological responses before and after the experiment. Seventy-six voluntary patients were randomly divided into 3 groups, and each group underwent a different treatment in order to examine the curative effects of sole acupoint Treatment. Furthermore, an analysis of the effect on the twelve meridians of the human body after stimulating the Chien-Ching acupoint was done. And when the results were compared with the traditional medical theories, they appeared to be coherent. Based on the experiment of treatment of a “one-time” stimulation on an acupuncture point, both the treatment of using a combination of cupping with electrical stimulation or just cupping, have a greater effect than just the electrical stimulation. Furthermore, the effect of using a combination of cupping and electrical stimulation simultaneously is greater than treatment of using cupping only.
