綠藻與洛神花改善代謝症候群之研究

The Effects of Green Algae and Roselle on Metabolic Syndrome

摘要


代謝症候群為許多代謝異常現象聚集於一人之病徵,而許多研究指出代謝症候群在之後有極高的風險發展成第2型糖尿病與心血管方面之重大疾病。故本研究在尋找具預防代謝症候群的發生之保健食材。 本實驗一開始以增加 3T3-L1 脂肪細胞之葡萄糖攝取能力為指標,篩選具改善代謝症候群潛力之食材。而在甘草、綠藻、洛神花、肉桂、菊苣與豆類發酵物等六項食材中,發現甘草、綠藻及洛神花能增加增加 3T3-L1 脂肪細胞之葡萄糖攝取能力,並挑出了綠藻及洛神花進行動物實驗。動物實驗的部分將雄性 Sprague-Dawley 大鼠分成四組:基礎組 (B) 餵飼一般飼料;對照組 (C) 餵飼60%高果糖飼料;綠藻組 (G) 餵飼60% 高果糖混0.8% 綠藻飼料;洛神花組 (R) 餵飼60% 高果糖混1% 洛神花飼料。實驗為期10週。在飼養期間監控大鼠血壓並進行口服葡萄糖耐受性測試,觀察大鼠胰島素敏感性之變化。此外亦定期分析禁食血漿血糖、三酸甘油酯 (TG)、總膽固醇 (TC) 等生理數值與進行動物犧牲後分析,藉此評估綠藻及洛神花對改善代謝症候群之功效。 結果發現 C 組之腹部脂肪、血壓、三酸甘油酯及總膽固醇皆顯著高於 B 組,顯示高果糖誘發 C 組大鼠產生代謝症候群之狀況。相較於C組,綠藻可減少腹部脂肪、降低血壓、降低三酸甘油酯及提升胰島素敏感性。而洛神花則有降低血壓、提升胰島素敏感性、降低血液中氧化壓力及 GOT 之功能。依實驗結果推測,綠藻與洛神花具有改善代謝症候群發生之功效。

The metabolic syndrome (MS) is defined as a cluster of metabolic disorders in the person. Many studies shown MS caused an increased risk for type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. The objective of this study is to develop health foods which can prevent the prevalence of MS. In this study the ability of glucose uptake on 3T3-L1 adipocytes was used to find the potential food of MS preventing effect. We screened six food extracts, including licorice, green algae, roselle, cinnamon, chicory and fermented soy product. The data shown that the licorice, green algae and roselle extracts can increase the glucose uptake by the adipocytes. The effects of green algae and roselle on ameliorating MS were further evaluated by the animal model. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into four groups: group basal (B), fed with normal chow diet ; group control (C), fed with 60% high fructose diet alone ; group green algae (G), fed with 60% high fructose diet plus 0.8% green algae extracts ; group roselle (R), fed with 60% high fructose diet plus 1% roselle extracts. The study lasted for 10 weeks. Blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose, insulin, triglyceride, total cholesterol and oral glucose tolerance tests (OGTT) were assayed. The data shown that group C had higher abdominal fat mass, blood pressure, plasma triglyceride and total cholesterol as comparing with group B, indicating that high-fructose diet increased risks of metabolic syndrome. In group G, abdominal fat mass, systolic blood pressure, fasting plasma triglyceride and insulin sensitivity were improved as comparing with the group C. And compared to group C, the group R had lower systolic blood pressure, oxidative stress, GOT and higher insulin sensitivity. The results suggested that green algae and roselle may prevent metabolic syndrome.
