The study constructs a direct and a specific network model that integrate facility location problem, transportation management, and inventory policy. Particularly, this paper considers two types of transportation: truckload (TL) and less than truckload (LTL). This study aims to analyze the effect and benefit of the two different network models by using system simulation to reduce logistics cost by applying TL instead of LTL. The result illustrates that logistics cost is reduced by 4.4%, and LTL transportation cost is decreased by 60.18% if the specific network model is applied. A case study is given to illustrate the validity of the model. This study provides managerial insights for managers in achieving a cost efficient logic system.
