結合專利地圖與使用者導向之觀點探討電潤濕顯示技術發展策略

摘要


顯示科技在近代歷經過不少次的技術更迭,除了不斷追求更輕便、更貼近現實世界的影像品質外,隨著近年環保意識逐漸抬頭,也越來越重視是否能符合環保節能的訴求。電子紙顯示技術被視為一種環保節能的技術,其具有低耗能特性且能減少紙張耗用,可減輕對環境的負擔。而綜觀台灣過去顯示器技術發展歷史,技術和原料供給始終依賴於他國,導致優勢漸失。但電子紙顯示技術卻帶給台灣一大機會,電子紙顯示技術不僅能符合環保節能的訴求,也是台灣少數從技術發展之初就投入的技術,其中電潤濕顯示技術是極具潛力的新興電子紙顯示技術,也是台灣重點佈局的技術之一。   本研究透過專利地圖以及使用者導向此兩種不同的觀點來探討電潤濕顯示技術。在技術趨勢部分,本研究透過美國專利資料庫進行專利檢索、分析,並製作專利地圖以了解技術發展之趨勢;在使用者導向部分,透過一般問卷調查了解消費者的需求。本研究運用上述技術趨勢及使用者導向之結果,發展出整合技術趨勢與使用者導向之模式,並進一步探討其中的差距,以便給予政府、廠商策略建議,協助技術能突破鴻溝,朝向商品化路徑邁進。   經研究顯示,電潤濕顯示技術其技術生命週期屬於萌芽期,而消費者對電子紙之相關產品的購買意願高但大多尚未實際接觸過此技術之相關產品。經統計,消費者需求功能與技術專利之功效之間差距極大,本研究進一步分析了差距的可能產生原因。   對於電潤濕顯示技術未來的發展,本研究建議廠商方面,應將所掌握之關鍵專利當籌碼進行談判,以獲取交互授權。此外,研發過程和資源投入須配合消費者需求面向調整。最後,應加強產品技術之行銷,將電子紙的優勢與節能風潮結合,使技術更廣為被熟悉並接受。政府方面,應給予廠商技術、財務、人力以及法律等全方位的輔助,並協助上下游之間的整合,以建構良好的電潤濕顯示技術發展環境。

Display Technology has changed many times in the recent. In addition to emphasis on light and closer to the real world image quality, manufacturers pay more and more attention to the environmental protection and energy saving, result from growing environmental awareness. Electronic paper display technology is regarded as an environmentally friendly and energy-saving technology, the characteristics of the electronic paper is low energy consumption, and it can reduce paper consumption, thus can reduce the burden of environmental. Review of Taiwan's display industry history, the suppy of technology and raw material has been dependent on other countries, which leads to the advantage loss. However, the electronic paper display technology brings a big opportunity for display industry in Taiwan. Electronic paper display technology not only meets the needs of environmental protection and energy saving, but also the technology which investment in the early stage of the technological development. The electrowetting display technology is the great potential of the emerging electronic paper display technology, and it also be regarded as one of the most important technological developments in Taiwan. This study through the patent map and user-oriented, the two different perspectives to explore the electrowetting display technology. In the part of the technology trends, this study using the USPTO's patent database conduct patent search, analysis, and production of the patent map in order to understand the trend of technological development. In the part of user-oriented part, understanding of consumer needs through the general survey. This study using the results of technology trends and user-oriented, develop the integration of technology trends and user-oriented model. And to further explore the the gap between them, in order to give the government, manufacturers strategic recommendations, and assist the technology to break through the gap towards the commercialization path forward. The study shows that the technology life cycle of electrowetting display technology now still stands itself in the rudimentary, and consumers expressing a high intention to purchase electronic paper related products but most of them have not actually contact with these products. After statistics, the gap between consumer demand function and the effect of technology patents significantly, this study further analyzed the possible causes of the gap. For the future development of the electrowetting display technology, this study suggests that manufacturers should take the key patent as a bargaining chip to engage in cross-license negotiation. In addition, the R & D process and investment of resources must be insisting on the consumer demand-oriented. Finally, should be enhanced the marketing of the technology, combination of the advantages of electronic paper and environmental awareness, let the new technology to be familiar and accepted. Government should be provide manufacturers a full range of assistance, such as technical, financial, human resources and legal, and assist integration of upstream and downstream, in order to construct a good electrowetting display technology development environment.
