Due to technologies advancing with time, most companies turn their focus to core technologies. It causes that the completion of a complex project is done by one company before, but is changing to multiple subcontractors today. However, this triggers the coordination problem between subcontractors. Based on this motivation, this research develops an agent-based negotiation model for resolving the schedule conflict problem of a project with a sequence of multi-contracts. We will deal with the project at the execution phase caused by the influence of various uncertainties. A multi-layer negotiation model is proposed based on the multi-linked protocol, because the negotiating agents cannot capture external effects of their agreement on other agents right away. An activity agent will negotiate with his preceding activity agent and succeeding activity agent synchronously by project activity logical relationship; meanwhile, the activity agent will update his negotiating issue information by using opponent’s offer and counter-offer. Experimental results show that the multi-layer negotiation model can effectively assist in activity agent to resolve schedule conflict in the project. In addition, this thesis explores the effects of concession attitude and weighting choice between time and compensation cost on negotiation performance.
