Abstract In this thesis, we propose a novel kind of portable vacuum pump. Our aim of this research is that a mother is able to jostle her breast milk anywhere instead of finding a nursing room when she is raising milk. At first, we design the system architecture including a step motor drive and a novel vacuum pump .Second, the step motor driving circuit is implementer by Microchip PIC16F88 microcontroller. Third, the experiments are performed to verify the function of our novel vacuum pump. Furthermore, the opinions of some mothers are included in our study. The contributions of this thesis are as follows: (1) We provide a novel vacuum pump with a new designed configuration. A new idea of using the step motor to replace the AC or DC motor is given also. (2) We propose a solution to solve the problem that a mother has to find a nursing room to jostle her breast milk when she is raising milk. It may encourage the popularization of feeding breast milk and decrease the rate of women breast cancer.
