Function point is usually used to estimate the scale of a project during early stage of project development. Because it is language-independent, it could also be used for the assessment and analysis of productivities. In this thesis, we used three methods to estimate the project size: 1. IFPUG, 2. COSMIC, and 3. MK II. We also collected the work efforts of three different projects. We used linear regression to analyze the relationship between function point and work efforts. From the results of analysis, we found that for projects with more stable process and more organized structure, IFPUG and COSMIC are better predictors. Otherwise, MK II makes better prediction of efforts.
