泰北地區有著近百個華人村,而且泰北各村幾乎都有華文學校,這些泰北華校使用臺灣的教材,學習正體字。由於當地的師資與經費有限,長期以來,臺灣的官方與民間提供許多愛心資源,以協助這些泰北華校順利發展。 本研究旨在探討泰北地區推廣華文教育所面臨的問題,以泰北建華綜合高中為背景,研究對象為泰北建華綜合高級中學的師生及其相關人員。本研究將結合質化研究與量化研究,依據研究目的,以文獻分析法為主,半結構式訪談、問卷調查法、參與觀察法為輔。透過文獻分析,瞭解泰北華人過去的奮鬥歷史與興辦華文教育的艱辛,再透過訪談及問卷調查,來瞭解建華綜合高中的發展演變,歸納出學校所遇到的困境,然後提出建議。 研究結果顯示,隨著時間的流逝,現在泰北華人的第三代大多已經歸化泰籍,泰語能力逐漸超越其華語能力。泰北地區一直都是正體字教學的重鎮,但無可避免的是現在簡體字教學日益普遍,大陸憑藉其強大的經濟實力,與泰國政府合作推廣簡體華文教育,許多泰國的學校開始設立華文課程,而泰北地區的一些中小學華校亦受其影響已開始教授簡體字課程,因此在未來發展方面,泰北地區的正體華文教育勢必會遭受更大的競爭與壓力。
There are approximately a hundred Chinese villages in Northern Thailand. Each school in each village use teaching materials from Taiwan, teaching traditional Chinese characters. Due to the limit of budget and teachers, people in Taiwan have been offering plenty of resources to help the development of Chinese education in Northern Thailand. The purpose of the study was to address the role of teaching Chinese language in North Thailand by shedding light on the nature of the problems. The participants for this research were selected from a group of students and faculties members in Chianhua Senior High School in Northern Thailand. Both qualitative and quantitative data analyses were performed in this study. The document analysis was crucially employed to understand the histories of promoting Chinese Education in Northern Thailand. Three other analyses, including semi-structured interview, questionnaire survey, and participant observation were comprised to explore the evolution and the encountered difficulties of Chinese education in Chianhua Senior High School of Northern Thailand and provided some possible suggestions. The result of the study showed that most third-generation Chinese people in Northern Thailand ,whose Thai language abilities are getting better than their Chinese, have registered Thai nationalities. On the other hand, traditional Chinese characters have been mainly used in classrooms of Northern Thailand. However, along with China’s economic prosperity, more and more schools in Northern Thailand have started to teach simplified Chinese characters. As a result, the role of simplified Chinese characters will arise an inevitable threat to the future development of traditional Chinese education.
