Preoperative Evaluation and Surgical Simulation of Acromioplasty Based on Volume Manipulated 3D Images

A major application of computer graphics in medicine is to provide surgical simulations. The main purpose of acromioplasty is to reduce the friction and collision between the rotator cuff and the acromion. This surgery can increase the shoulder joint mobility and remove the reasons for limited the shoulder joint activity ability. For example, removing the spur can increase the activity space of the humerus under the acromion and achieve the effect of decompression. In the process, the surgery repairs the tear muscle tissue, such as the rotator cuff. We evaluate the current shoulder joint data of patients before surgery, and simulate the current symptoms for spur resection and burring. Through our method, surgeons can be assisted in pre-rehearsing and verify planned joint surgery.
