五一三事件華人之集體記憶探討

摘要
本論文之目的是蒐集經歷五一三事件的華人之集體記憶，以填補馬來西亞近代史上的一個空白。現在的馬來西亞社會中，若沒有提到選舉或政治問題，各族群的氣氛顯得十分融洽。當大選要來時，就會有人嘗試提出這起歷史事件來呼籲華人不要對政治過度熱情，否則會招致不幸。這件事情存在於華人的集體記憶中，可是大家卻寧願用口耳相傳的方式來「告誡」下一代，年輕的一輩也似懂非懂的遵循這個告誡。雖然五一三事件僅發生在首都，但其影響卻超越地緣限制，全馬的華人都感受到五一三事件帶來的衝擊，以致他們往後對參與政治的熱情漸漸消減，也甚少公開談論政治。 如今我們只能透過片面的資料對這起歷史事件有初步的了解，如：官方所統計的參與種族人數、傷亡人數等，或者是媒體的片面報導而已。至於華人記憶這方面甚少紀錄。本論文將使用口述訪問描述這場暴動在華人的記憶中的經歷，他們對國家的政治看法及感情，及這些人如何對後代詮釋這一段記憶。

The aim of this study is to investigate the collective memory of Chinese in Malaysia for the May 13 Incident. Though the incident was taken place mainly in the capital, its influence and coverage was nationwide. It is always cautiously whispered among the Chinese and the trauma has served as a pulling factor in their political participation and public discussion. Fragments of the Incident can only be gathered through official statistics of casualty, racial participation, and various press coverage, but with the absence of Chinese viewpoint. Basing on interviews with people involved in the incident, this paper tends to demonstrate how the Incident is remembered, passed on, and (re)interpreted by the Chinese, and further analyze its upon their political participation and national identity.
