基於YouTube所建立的英文學習平台

Building An English Learning Platform based on YouTube

摘要


隨著YouTube的使用人數大幅提升,越來越多人會將記錄著各式各樣內容的影片上傳到YouTube分享給更多的人看,幾年下來YouTube累積大量不同類型的影片,因此若能夠將這龐大的影片資源與英文學習方面結合,則可擁有取之不盡的學習資源,但就以目前YouTube網站介面是無法直接應用於英文學習上。因此,本論文開發Web英文學習平台 (ENtutor) 提供英文學習相關的功能,協助使用者有效率地搜集以及管理學習資源,ENtutor後端事先從YouTube網站上收集影片資訊存於設計過的資料庫中,分析並探索資料的關聯性,給予影片相對應的難易度分級,對應不同英文程度的使用者主動推薦適合的英文影片供使用者選擇,減少使用者在 YouTube網站上找尋學習影片所花費掉的時間及心力。在網頁呈現方面,使用響應式網頁設計 (Responsive Web Design) 的概念,依照使用不同的行動裝置,呈現最佳的學習畫面,讓使用者可以在任何時間及地點進行英語學習活動,建立起無所不在學習 (Ubiquitous Learning) 環境。使用者在使用ENtutor學習英文時,系統會完整記錄使用者的操作過程以及選擇觀看的影片資訊,在經過分析後做為提供適性化學習建議的依據。

With the number of users of YouTube increased dramatically, more and more users upload video which is recorded with a wide range of content to YouTube to share with more people. A few years later, YouTube has accumulated the large number of different kind of video. So if this massive video resources can be combined with English learning, it can have an inexhaustible supply of English learning resources. But now YouTube website interface can not be directly applied on English learning. In this thesis, we developed Web English learning platform (ENtutor) for collecting and managing English learning resource. The backend system of ENtutor collects video information from YouTube website in advance and store in the database which is designed. ENtutor analyze and explore the relevance of these information, and determine the English level of video. ENtutor recommend video to user base on Users English ability. These recommendations can reduce the energy and time which users spend on YouTube search. In terms of platform interface, we use Responsive Web Design (RWB). RWB can present the best view in different size of device. The system with RWB lets user make English learning activities at any time and place. This method of learning can establish a Ubiquitous Learning environment. The system records the user's operation while user learn. Then system analyzes the record, and provide adaptive learning recommendations.
