Lithium batteries are widely used in hydraulic, fire, wind and solar power station and other energy storage power systems, uninterrupted power supply for post and telecommunications, and electric tools, electric bicycles, electric motorcycles, electric vehicles, military equipment, aerospace and other fields. Compared with other commonly used batteries, lithium-ion batteries are featured by high energy density, high power density, long service life and environmental friendliness and thus have found wide application in the area of consumer electronics, resulting in boosting resources demand, including cobalt and lithium. The development of high-capacity lithium-ion batteries has begun trials in electric vehicles, which is expected to be one of the main power sources for electric vehicles in the 21st century. Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) materials in particular have problems in solving environmental and energy shortages. This present paper, through the analysis of literature and in combination with our integration, briefly introduced the composition and industrial development of lithium batteries, in the hope of providing some inspirations to the develop and research of the lithium ion battery.
