摘要

本文主要在探討過去近一甲子以來其全台與各縣市中小學的分布情況，分別以這兩層面為探討基準，亦透過諸多角度來進一步分析與研究中小學之概況，並藉此探討其中若干含義。文中主要分成兩種階層，一以全台為主，二為各縣市為主，而其中的觀察皆包括中小學之校數、學生數、班級數等諸多角度。主要計算方式則採累積密度函數和Gini係數，觀察期間則為1950-2008。文中指出，全台二十五縣市中小學之分布皆有其城鄉差距現象存在。

We in the paper compute the long-term density of junior high and elementary school of Taiwan. The number of school in each prefectural area, the density of school per pupil, and the density of school per kilometer are collected. Using these indices, we conclude that the offer of compulsory education does exist the difference between urban and rural areas in terms of the density of school distribution.
