隨著高齡化以及扶養比提升的情況加劇,青年世代所需擔負的照顧責任逐年上升,照顧成為必然面對的議題,無論是需要被照顧、提供照顧。本研究之目的在於探究男性照顧者的照顧經驗並予以描述,以及文化當中性別刻板印象對於男性照顧者本人及照顧經驗的影響,藉此提供相關研究者、工作者對於人數逐漸增加的男性照顧者群體一份參考,也期許對於男性照顧者、被照顧者相關人等有所助益。 本研究以質性研究當中Clandinin和Connelly所提之敘事方法做為策略,透過深入訪談一名照顧失能媽媽的男性照顧者,經敘事編碼以及文本撰寫,除了敘述其照顧經驗歷程,也詮釋性別刻板印象與照顧經驗之間的相互影響。研究結果發現,成為照顧者的因素雖然主要是對於家人的虧欠以及未成家立業的狀態使然,照顧歷程確實也讓照顧者陷入低谷、困窘,但憑藉成為照顧者同時象徵著對於家人們的貢獻、價值,因此對於照顧者而言並非完全是犧牲;性別刻板印象的影響如下:1. 限制脆弱、情緒的表達2. 貶低自己沒有成家立業3.認為男人應有能力卻無法達成的落差感。最後,除了被動受到性別刻板印象的影響,照顧者依照情境以及經驗,主動、動態性地改變對於求助、展現脆弱的詮釋。
As long as the enhance of aging society and the increase of dependency ratio, young generations have to take more responsibilities of caring, the issue of care giving become even more important, whether to the caregiver or the recipient. The aim of this research is to explore and narrate the experience of a male caregiver, and find out the influence of gender stereotypes to a male caregiver and to his caring progress. Through this research, researcher hope to provide a reference to male caregivers, recipients, researchers and related workers.This research is based on the narrative inquiry by Clandinin and Connelly, through the in-depth interview of a male caregiver who takes care of his disabled mother, narrative coding and text composing, researcher describes the caregiving progress and interprets the interaction of gender stereotype and caregiving progress. As to the result, the main reason of choosing to be a male caregiver is the owing to the family members and the situation of not able to get married and settle down. The caregiving progress did make life of the male caregiver a miserable, and yet with the character of a caregiver, he is able to provide value to his family, hence the progress is not completely a sacrifice. The influences of stereotype to male caregiver are : (1) Limitation of expressing vulnerability. (2)Depreciation of not able to get married and settle down. (3)Psychological gap of not able to fulfill the idea of a man should be powerful. At last, in spite of being affected by gender stereotype passively, the male caregiver actively changed the explanation of being vulnerable and help seeking depended on the situation.
