本論文旨在將筆者翻譯《位元風暴》(Blown to bits)一書的過程中,所累積的心得予以整理歸納。 《位元風暴》是由波士頓顧問公司(Boston Consulting Group)的兩位資深副總裁共同撰寫,內容探討企業在資訊時代裡的競爭模式和企業轉型策略,列舉的例子涵蓋許多產業,出版後廣受好評,榮登《紐約時報》與《商業週刊》暢銷書排行榜,在新資訊經濟的領域中享有崇高的地位。 論文共分五章,首章為緒論。第二章為《位元風暴》一書的背景說明。第三章指出筆者翻譯時遭遇的困難與解決方式,並且說明所遵循的翻譯原則。第四章為翻譯實務上的問題研討。最後一章則是對於上述討論的各項議題做一番總結。 希望本篇提及的翻譯困難、解決方式、翻譯原則、和常見的翻譯體,對財經企管類翻譯工作者有些許助益。
This thesis aims at presenting the problems encountered and the strategies adopted during my translation of the book Blown to bits. Blown to bits, written by two senior vice presidents from the Boston Consulting Group, introduces the competitive patterns and business strategies in the information age. Examples provided by the authors span the spectrum of industries. Favorable reaction to this book makes it a bestseller in the “New York Times” and “Business Week”. It plays a very prominent role in the realm of the new economics of information. This thesis is divided into five chapters. Chapter 1 is an introduction. Chapter 2 introduces the background and contents of Blown to bits. Chapter 3 describes the problems encountered and strategies adopted in the translation process. Chapter 4 is a discussion of translation in practice. The last chapter is a brief conclusion of the issues mentioned in the previous chapters. In brief, the goal of this thesis is to contribute to the translators of business texts.
