摘要


1936出生的廖修平,是臺灣當代藝術影響深遠的重要人物,不論在個人創作、藝術教育和推廣方面,都有重大的成就與貢獻。本文以廖修平對於臺灣藝術組織與活動的貢獻為研究主題,首先由成長的歷程和人格特質談起,進而延伸至投入藝術創作及教育之外,他對臺灣當代藝術發展的貢獻,成為藝術運動中不可或缺的篇章。 畫會熱潮興起於1950年代末,在臺灣的美術發展上扮演關鍵的角色,促進自由創作與畫會的蓬勃發展,也連帶影響臺灣版畫藝術的變革,同時,催生「現代版畫會」的成立,並將版畫藝術帶向更多元的創作。而廖修平不只於個人藝術創作上具高度的成就,也正是傳播現代版畫的技術與觀念的重要推手,除此之外,他積極參與藝術的推廣,極其所能的為臺灣藝術提供更多公共資源,推促「巴黎大獎、版畫大獎」以及「中華民國國際版畫雙年展」的成立。 具體而言,本文以文獻為基礎,從三個軸線探討廖修平多元身分的脈絡。首先,追溯廖修平的家學淵源、生活環境對其日後藝術實踐與社會參與的影響;第二,藉由梳理現代版畫發展的軌跡,回顧廖修平在版畫教育的奉獻,以及推動臺灣藝術文化的實踐;最後,本文歸結廖修平多元身分對臺灣藝術的投入與時代貢獻,體現藝術家個人創作之外的另一面向。

Liao Shiou-Ping born in 1936, he is a prominent Taiwanese artist who brought a great influence to Taiwanese contemporary art. He not only achieved a major accomplishment in personal creation but also made a big contribution to artistic teaching and promotion. This thesis focus on the contributions to Taiwanese Arts organizations and activities of Liao Shiou-Ping, and through examining his background and personality to analyze his contribution to the development of Taiwanese contemporary art outside the artistic creation and education. His contribution has become an indispensable chapter in the Taiwan Art movement. The trend of Painting Group raise in the late of 1950s, it played an important role in the development of Taiwanese art. This trend not only promoted the freedom of creation and the growth of the painting group but also affect the evolution of Taiwanese printmaking. It also helped to create the “Modern Graphic Art Association” and brought multi-creation to printmaking. Liao Shiou-Ping does not just have a great achievement of personal artistic creation; he is also a pioneer who promotes the technique and idea of Modern printmaking. He has a big passion for artistic promotion, provides more public resources to Taiwanese art including urging to found Grand Prix de Paris, Printmaking Prize, and International Biennial Print Exhibit R.O.C. This thesis use literatures to analyze the multi-identity of Liao Shiou-Ping by three parts. First, trace back his family education, background, and the influence of artistic practice and social participation. Second, through the development of Modern printmaking to examine Liao Shiou-Ping’s contribution of printmaking education and his participation of promoting Taiwanese artistic culture. Last, conclude the effect of Liao Shiou-Ping’s multi-identity including the participation of Taiwanese art and history contribution, express another image of the artist outside the personal creation.
