以眼動儀分析圖文排版之閱讀效益−以車主手冊為例

Using Eye Tracker to Analyze Effectiveness of Reading on Graphic Layout—Taking the Automobile Owner’s Manual as an Example

摘要

本研究應用眼動儀探討大學生在閱讀車主手冊圖文排版的閱讀效應，研究者將車主手冊的排版分為四種，圖片右文字左、圖片左文字右、圖片下文字上、圖片上文字下，並使用眼動儀觀測受試者的眼動歷程，以了解受試者在閱讀車主手冊時的閱讀時間，與閱讀過後的操作時間。本研究發現，受測者選擇圖片左文字右和圖片右文字左的圖文排版方式時，在閱讀時間（平均為43.8秒）與操作時間（平均為138.5秒）所花費的時間較長，若選擇圖片上文字下和圖片下文字上的圖文排版方式，閱讀時間（平均為27.7秒）與操作時間（平均為101.8秒）所花費的時間較短，並且達到統計水準上的差異。

This study is aiming at exploring the eyes movement process of college student when reading graphic layout of the automobile owner's manual. The researcher divided the graphic layout of the automobile owner's manual into four types: (a.) The pictures at right and the text at left; (b.) The pictures at left and text at right; (c.) The pictures at top and text at below; (d.) Text at top and the pictures at below. The researcher asked participants to read the automobile owner's manual which were mentioned. At the same time, the researcher operated eyes tracker to observe the process of the eyes movement to realize the reading time and the operating time. This study found out that the majority of the participants who chose horizontal layout (the ‘a’ and ‘b’ types) spent 43.8 seconds to read and 138.5 seconds to operate in average. In addition, the participants who chose vertical graphic layout (the ‘c’ and ‘d’ types) spent 27.7 seconds to read and 101.8 seconds to operate in average. In conclusion, the participants who chose the vertical layout would shorter than horizontal one.
