Research on user-centred perspectives for designing an occupational therapy centre

Rehabilitation services in Taiwan has increased significantly in the past years, how to provide more appropriate rehabilitation services is most important. The study aims to explore user’s behavior, needs, experiences and feelings when users use the occupational therapy center. Research method use innovative product design and development approach (IPDD). Research process: (1)Identifying opportunities: understand the current situation and problems of Taiwan's rehabilitation center. (2)Understanding opportunities: record the current situation through observation and research field. (3)Conceptualizing opportunities: design occupational therapy center according to the needs of users. (4)Realising opportunities: after verification by users, the research results are compiled reference suggestions for related planners and service providers. The study results indicate that " sufficient rehabilitation space size", "good rehabilitation environment atmosphere" and "appropriate rehabilitation equipment" are the most important factors of the users. Summary, a good occupational therapy center in addition to providing the safe hardware facilities, it is more necessary to give users a comfortable and good atmosphere occupational therapy center.
