不一樣的父職：心智障礙者父親的照顧、工作衝突與父職實踐

Extraordinary fatherhood:Caring responsibilities, work-family conflict, and construction of fatherhood for fathers of children with intellectual disability

摘要

本研究從父親的角度為出發點，透過相關的文獻回顧及十位心智障礙者父親的深度訪談，瞭解在心智障礙者的家庭中，父親如何參與照顧工作、家務如何分工、工作與照顧衝突及因應之道。透過對心智障礙者父親生命經驗的了解，探討父親對於父職概念的建構及實踐，期能增進其親職參與，減輕因障礙兒為家庭帶來的衝擊，進而對心智障礙者家庭有實質的助益。
　　研究結果發現，心智障礙者父親會有不同程度的參與照顧行為源自父職認知與參與意願，障礙兒的父親必須重新定義照顧工作的意義，才能更積極正向的參與照顧工作。障礙兒鬆動了一般家庭的性別分工，雙親唯有在適才適力的合作關係下，才能達到事半功倍之效。心智障礙者的父親必須認同自己的父親角色，才能成為心智障礙子女的專屬父親。

Through in-depth interviews with 10 fathers of children with intellectual disability (ID), this research examined father’s role in caring their children with ID, division of labor between spouses in house work and reconciliation of work-family conflict. A comprehensive understanding of life experience of these fathers demonstrates a pragmatic approach to (re)conceptualizing fatherhood. This study showed that, redefining fatherhood and care work enabled fathers of children with ID engaging in caring their children. Collaboration between parents of children with intellectual disability effectively performs caring work, which loosens gender division of labor at home. Fathers of children with ID learned to become different fathers and reconstruct their ideal fatherhood though the experience of caring.
