The study discusses the short-term memory of design-educated and non-design- educated college students. The experiment samples are 240 divided into eight face images of ages: (A) preschool children (B) elementary students (C) junior high students (D) senior high students (E) college students (F) graduate students (G) the middle-aged (H) the elderly. The study method is a three-stage experiment. The first and second stages are aimed at the experiment of memory recognition, and the third stage is the detection and analysis of activities of visual area using EEG recorder. The experiment results of the first and second stages are as follows. For non-design-educated subjects, the result shows that the recognition of eight 2D face samples is different in viewing 2D face samples. The result shows that the recognition ability of non-design-educated males is better than that of females. However, the recognition ability of design-educated subjects is no difference. In viewing 2.5D face samples, the result shows that the face recognition of subjects with different backgrounds is different after independent sample T test and one-way ANOVA. The face recognition ability of design-educated subjects is more similar, but that of non-design-educated subjects is significantly different. In eight experiment samples, it can be found in only sample (C) junior high students that face recognition for females of design-educated and non-design-educated is significantly different. The third stage is detected by EEG recorder, and the result showed that the EEG of design-educated subjects is more active than that of non-design-educated subjects in viewing 2D, 2.5D, and 3D face samples. In design-educated subjects, the EEG of females is gentler in viewing 3D face samples.
