As technology advances in our fast-growing economy, stress in our society is reaching boiling point. Therefore, there are a number of new terms associated with stress-relieved and inspirational methods emerging. Gradually, an inspirational culture starts forming into shape and that’s what illustrated books are featured with nowadays. An illustrated book normally contains drawings that have a story behind them and the story mostly plays an important role as an image or a concept to encourage or inspire the readers who have been through some unpleasant experiences. Moreover, the imaged-based concept happens to correspond to the popularity of mobile devices that has greatly changed our reading pattern, which is why illustrated books are getting more recognition in recent years. The reason behind its growing popularity is due to the fact that we are living in a big melting pot where an enormous amount of information that we receive has an influence on a person’s spirit. Therefore, we need to purify our soul so that we won’t lose ourselves in such a fast-paced developing world. One of the advocators is a Japanese author 山下英子 who has been promoting a type of practical philosophy called “Isolation”, in other words; it is a method that isolates our excessive demands from any material and also through examination of the relationship between items and humans, we can initiate a sort of reflection of ourselves and find out who we truly are. The creation is based on a variety of references about illustrated books, performing format, inspirational concepts and case analysis. Furthermore, personal experience is the core frame of each story and incorporates the philosophy into this book as a foundation. The intention of this book is to address the issues that people who lose themselves in finding their way through life face and people who have mental issues. Readers can also gain more knowledge about the insights of the philosophy by the method of metaphor instead of stiff doctrine to express the importance of self-recognition. Among all the ideas mentioned above, the illustration “Blackstone” finally comes into a piece. The story depicts about a girl who is stuck in a car where she is living due to a black stone she picks up. That’s also where the adventure kicks off. In the story we will see how this girl goes through frustration, struggles and dilemma before finding out where she belongs. The illustration is basically a reflection of a person who was once lost in the past. The readers who now might be going through the same experience have sympathy in the story and will emotionally feel attached. In this case, it would gradually comprehend the meaning behind each illustration; as a result, emotions will be purified and get to a stage where the traumatized soul becomes released and healed.
