Tile is a parallel tool in High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). It can achieve high coding parallelism in both encoding and decoding process. However, there are some issues when using tile. First, using tile will decrease coding efficiency. In addition, it might lead to bad parallelism if unbalanced tile spacing is adopted. In this thesis, we proposed three methods to solve these issues. Two of them are the improvement of coding efficiency and improve load-balancing, respectively. The other one takes both coding efficiency and load-balancing into considerations. The experiment results show that these methods achieve their goals.
