Under the concept of Turing patterns, we employ the optical experiments and theoretical analyses to explore the relationship between wave patterns in optics and architecture designs. Multi-beam interference technique is used to generate optical patterns with different quasi-periodic structures. We also experimentally exploit a cylindrical waveguide to generate the resonant geometric modes related to circular billiards. Moreover, optical patterns associated with the classical periodic orbits are observed in VCSEL’s with square and triangle boundary conditions. The experimental results can be excellently reconstructed with the theoretical modes by using the Mathcad software. Finally, the theoretical patterns are also calculated for comparison with architecture designs.
