In this thesis we use transformation optics theory to design two kinds of planar- to-cylindrical wave translators, one works like concave lens and the other like convex lens. We find the relations between the crystal optics parameters and the coordinate transformation functions in the TM mode (the electric field lies on the x-y plane) case, and find the way for designing non-magnetic invisibility cloak using uniaxial crystals. Finally, as an example, we use the design of a wave bender to explain the advantages of designing devices using the concepts of transformation optics instead of solving the same problem using the traditional concepts of crystal optics.
