高中/職分流選擇與就業薪資差異之分析

摘要


本文以臺灣出生於1953-1964年和出生於1965-1976年的兩組不同年齡族群為樣本,採Logistic迴歸結合EBA法分析家庭財務資源、手足數目、父母親教育程度及預期薪資對國(初)中畢業生的升學分流選擇的影響。接著比較未進入大學繼續升學之普通高中畢業生與技職中學畢業生,就業薪後薪資報酬之差異。 實證結果顯示,不分年齡族群家庭財務資源皆為國(初)中畢業生升學選擇考量的重要決定因素,具有正向顯著影響。手足數目則對國(初)中畢業生在作升學選擇決策不具影響力。對男性而言,父母親教育程度高者亦會促使其選擇普通高中,對女性則無此項影響力,這顯示台灣社會男女生在就學方面,家庭因素會呈現差異。預期薪資則僅對出生於1965-1976年之男性出現顯著影響,即當製造業的薪資越高,男性國(初)中畢業生越傾向進入技職中學。 經檢驗後發現普通高中畢業生與技職中學畢業生,在日後就業的薪資報酬及薪資成長率上都不存在差異,此結果表示就讀普通高中或技職中學對國(初)中畢業生追求未來就業的薪資報酬,並沒有顯著差異。

The purpose of this study is two-fold. The first one is to examine the effects of finance resource, the number of siblings, parents’ educational attainment and expected wage rates on the tracking decision of junior high graduates in two different age groups in Taiwan by using Logistic regression in association with the Extreme Bounds Analysis (EBA) method. The second one is to scrutinize the differences in wage rates and their growths between graduates of secondary vocational school and those of general senior high school. The EBA results reveal that finance resource plays a significant role in affecting the decision of junior high graduates of both genders on selecting upper secondary education; while the number of siblings has no influence on the tracking decision. Male students having parents with higher education levels are more likely to choose general education than those having parents with lower education. This study also finds that when expected market wage rates tend to be higher, male students are more likely to choose vocational school for continuing their education. It is noticed that female students are not influenced by parents’ educational attainment and expected wage rates at all, although male students are. With regard to the issue of wage differentials, we find that for both samples in two different age groups, vocational education leads to neither higher wage level, nor faster growth pace. These findings imply that, as far as pay wage is concerned, whether to undertake upper vocational education or to undertake general high school education make no difference.
