Originate in southern Fujian in Mainland China, and brought in Taiwan with colonists and merchants back and forth across the Taiwan strait, Kua-a-chheh ( Taiwan ballads) were available at book stands and grocery stores and realistically reflected the folk custom and the real lives of common people in Taiwan society at that time. Two of the large number of Kua-a-chheh literature were named with Chiayi -- " the Chiayi Song " and " the Chiayi Marching po-kua" --also considered as the mass travel books among the Kua-a-chheh ( Taiwan ballads). " the Chiayi Song " describes the field scenes and the folk custom all the way from Taipei to Chiayi. " " the Chiayi Song " focuses on introducing the famous stores and the business environment around Chiayi. Based on these two texts, my research intends to figure out the looks of Ciayi City and along the western rail line, through the recorded stations, the view on the streets, related old photos, commercial slogans, and the reports. Furthermore , it could also be used to help organize theme travel maps of nostalgia regarding to " the Chiayi Song " and " the Chiayi Marching po-kua", so that it could make Kua-a-chheh come to life.
