The purpose of the research was to examine the current status and the relationship between personality traits and person-job fit among clinical research nurses. In order to understand the current situation, we investigated the effects of age, years of experience in clinical trial, education level, marital status, and employment unit on personality traits and person-job fit. In this study, a cross-sectional survey and snowball sampling method were used to collect 132 questionnaires from clinical research nurses who had been conducting clinical trials or research for at least six months in a health care system. After deducting one invalid questionnaire, a total of 131 usable questionnaires were administered. The data collected were subjected to Descriptive Statistic Analysis, Independent Sample t-testing, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's Product-moment Correlation Analysis and Stepwise Multiple-Regression Analysis using SPSS 28.0 software package. Major conclusions of the study can be summarized below: (1) The personality traits of the clinical research nurses were the highest factor in terms of perception of agreeableness, followed by openness to experience, extraversion, emotional stability, and conscientiousness. (2) The highest level of perceived competence was found in the person-job fit of clinical research nurses, followed by work requirements, self-actualization, self-esteem, and basic needs. (3) The different background variables (years of experience in clinical trial, education, job category, average monthly salary, and on-the-job training) of the clinical research nurses made some differences in their personality traits. (4) There were some differences in the perception of person-job fit among some of the background variables (average monthly salary) of clinical research nurses. (5) The personality traits of clinical research nurses, such as extraversion, openness to experience and agreeableness, are relevant to person-job fit. (6) The extroverted personality traits of clinical research nurses had significant predictive power for person-job fit.
