To Study Open Innovation in Organizations based on Information Technology and Knowledge Integration Capabilities

In the past, successful enterprise organizations considered innovations to be strictly confidential. To protect the innovations developed by corporations, they expended considerable effort in protecting the results of research and development by implementing strict patents and trade secrets. However, companies incur considerable costs on R&D, but only a few of the R&D results can be applied. In this rapidly changing era, high-cost and low-capacity R&D has rendered numerous organizations incapable of bearing this burden. Therefore, this study explored methods for using information technology effectively to obtain the value of knowledge assets and efficiently apply this knowledge to maximize its value, thus enabling the organization to engage in innovation openly. This study adopted organizations as the research subjects and examined the influence of information technology capability and knowledge integration capability on open innovation. In addition, this study adopted questionnaires, partial least squares analysis, and verification methods. The results indicate that high organizational information technology capability and knowledge integration capability enable the successful development of an open-innovation organization.
