台灣花布透過創意再造展現視覺魅力之研究

Study on How Creativity of Taiwan Cotton Prints Presented Visual Charm

摘要


「復古」可能是經典的源頭,亦可能如曇花一現般短暫的流行,在台灣傳統花布當紅的現在,正值得去探索這現象背後的脈絡,並進而思索如何延續文化符碼的未來生命。集體的記憶是形成共識的基礎,經過時間的沉澱後,昔日常民生活中的必需品重新獲得注目,設計界相中老東西所具備的親切感與情感淵源,將之轉化成代表本土在地特色的表徵,台灣傳統花布即是近年來在台灣常被取用的素材之一,布的特性漸被花布的紋樣所取代,應用的範圍也不再侷限布的可能,在本土意識高漲與文化創意產業起飛的時空推動下,台灣花布從阿嬤的被櫥被挖出來,由私人空間走向公眾領域,再經轉化成設計元素,花布儼然成為台灣特色的代表性圖騰,擺脫原本俗麗的印象,附加在許多視覺設計或商品設計上,昇華而成為時尚風格的代表。 近年來越來越多的台灣設計師發現花布獨特的魅力所在,經過創意再造後,花布以不同材質、不同面貌來呈現。經過本研究後期許著,台灣花布能延伸得更具未來性發展。 研究的結果發現(1)從歷史切入了解花布源頭是必須的,因為在後殖民的理論中發現,台灣花布的產出有著文化融合的微妙處。(2) 台灣花布能重現視覺舞台,是在大環境氣氛的醞釀下發酵,全球化議題中在地化的反撲,經過藝術、媒體、政策的催化,造就台式圖騰的榮盛。(3)消費符碼與風格商品的操作,強調特色與趣味,在後現代的思潮下為懷舊復古找到了出口。(4)台灣花布的台式圖騰地位已被確認,對其未來發展可以參考國際間的設計案例,提供台灣花布延續的新方向。

“Antique” can be the source of classic, it also can be shortlived fashion. In today’s very popular traditional cotton prints in Taiwan, it deserves us to study the context of this phenomenon and then think deeply about how to continue the prospective life of cultural symbol. Collective memory is the foundation of forming common consensus. After sediment of time, the past necessities in common people’s life obtain attention again, the design circles take a fancy to the geniality and emotion origin that old things possessed, and then transform them into the surface features of local characteristics that represent this country. Taiwan’s traditional cotton print is one of the materials that are often used in Taiwan in recent years, the characteristic of cloth is replaced by the pattern of cotton print gradually, the application range also no longer limits to the possibility of cloth. Under the driving force of strong local consciousness and development of cultural creative industry, Taiwan’s cotton prints have been dig out from grandmother’s wardrobe and moved towards the public area from private area; they are then transformed into design elements. The cotton print becomes the representative totem of Taiwan’s characteristic solemnly, it gets rid of its originally tawdry impression and is attached to a lot of visual designs or product designs; thus, it sublimes and becomes the representative of fashion style. In recent years, more and more Taiwanese designers discover the unique charm of cotton prints, and they use different materials to recreate different kinds of cotton prints creatively. Hopefully, the development of Taiwan cotton prints could be expanded with more possibilities in the future. The study result indicated that it was necessary to understand the source of cotton prints from the perspective of history, because the postcolonial theory pointed out that the production of Taiwan cotton prints presented subtle cultural fusion. Secondly, Taiwan cotton prints could reappear at the visual stage was because of the global atmosphere, namely glocalization brought up the popularity of Taiwanese totem through such catalysts as art, medium, and policy. Next, consumption code and stylish goods emphasized characteristic and interest, which promoted vintage in the post-modern trend. In addition, Taiwanese totem has already become an important element of Taiwan cotton prints, so international totem designs could provide new direction for the future development of Taiwan cotton prints.
