This research mainly discussed the factors affecting the change of homeownership rates of each county in Taiwan. The samples were the data of each county in Taiwan from 2007 to 2014 and they were classified into Taiwan, metropolitan area and non-metropolitan area to discuss the effect of ratio of house price to income, share of married couples, ratio of aged population, mobility rates and proportion of agricultural population on homeownership rates. The research results show that the share of married couples and proportion of agricultural population have a positive effect on homeownership rates, namely, the higher share of married couples and proportion of agricultural population means the higher homeownership rates; while ratio of house price to income and mobility rates have a negative effect on homeownership rates, namely, higher ratio of house price to income and mobility rates means the lower homeownership rates, and ratio of house price to income is an important factor affecting the homeownership rates of metropolitan area in Taiwan.
