本研究以台灣與美國、日本貿易活動為焦點,運用相關貿易指標觀察其貿易關係變化,進而探討台灣產業結構之變化。首先分析歷年貿易概況,另再結合「貿易結合度指數」指標進行分析,瞭解台灣與美國、日本貿易關係及往來概況。藉由「產業內貿易指數」指標,分析台灣與美國、日本產業間之貿易型態及分工程度,瞭解其互補關係。透過「貿易專業化指數」指標,分析產業間之國際競爭力強弱,探討台灣與美國、日本產業之競爭關係。由實證計算發現,台灣與美國、日本貿易緊密度超出該國自世界輸入平均水準,「纖維」及「玩具雜貨」產業為台灣與美國垂直生產分工型之產業間貿易代表,而台灣與日本由早期產業間貿易逐漸轉為產業內貿易型態。與美國及日本相較之下,台灣在「纖維製品」及「玩具雜貨」產業具有優勢,國際競爭力較強。
The present paper is focusing on trading activities between Taiwan, the United States, and Japan in terms of the trade indices such as Trade Intensity Index of Intra-industry Trade and Trade Specialization Index to investigate the change in trade and to discuss the change in Taiwan’s industrial structure. Empirically we find that the trade intensity index between Taiwan and the United States exceeds average level in which the United States and Japan imported from the worldwide, and Japan. “Textile” and “Toys and Miscellaneous goods” industries are inter-industry trade which represents as a type of vertical production division of labor between Taiwan and USA. However, Index of Intra-industry Trade between Taiwan and Japan are from inter-industry trade in early period into intra-industry trade. Comparing with the United States and Japan, Taiwan has more advantage and international competitiveness in “Textile” and “Toys and Miscellaneous goods” industries.
