筆者離家多年,對於家鄉的記憶是新舊夾雜。認知地圖是人們對所處的環境的大瓺了解,其因人而異,並常以簡圖方式呈現,而筆者的認知地圖是由記憶中街道的線與大地標的陎構成。人類除了透過言語溝通外,文字也是一種方式,是一種符號形式,更可傳達一些無法完全透過口說表達的意念。 科技的發展與網際網路所帶來的便利已成為人類生活必需。在創作進行時,筆者透過日常用來搜尋地點或規劃路線的Google Map為創作工具,將Google Map提供的真實街道地圖,利用電腦繪圖技術,再重新建構筆者對家鄉的認知地圖,進行地圖的隱喻與視覺再現。 隨著數位技術的進步,許多傳統製程開始與工業函工製程和數位媒材結合,數位作法成為一種新興的創作趨勢。而許多新一代的金屬工藝創作者也逐漸在創作中使用工業作法與數位製程,且保留金屬工藝製作時的獨特手感。 本創作中筆者將自己對家鄉的情感,藉由數位地圖轉化心中的認知地圖,並將其符號轉化為符碼,使此情感透過創作呈現,進而達到引起閱聽者或使用者情感連結。將電腦輔助設計、電腦輔助製造的「工」與傳統金工技法手作的「工」結合,讓工藝的手感、數位的精確、工業的技術,與工藝的美學、設計師的創意具體化,保留工藝的手感價值與手作的樂趣。
It has been a long period of time since I left my hometown. Thus, the past and recent memories are integrated. Cognitive map is an overall realization towards the environment around human beings. And, it varies from individuals and is highly-frequently presented by brief pictures. In this study, I present my own cognitive map by constructing lines of streets and plane of landmarks from my memory. Languages are one of the most commonly-used tools for human to communication. Moreover, words and characters are one of them and also signify certain meaning and ideas. Furthermore, they convey ideas, which are unable completely to be expressed by speaking. The convenience brought by advancement of technology and Internet becomes essential in our daily life. In the process of creation, I used Google Map, which is frequently utilized to search location and plan routes, as the tool of creation. Based on the authentic maps of streets provided by Google Map, I reconstruct the cognitive map to my hometown by computer aid graphical technology in order to re-express its inference and image. With the development of digital technology, a lot of conventional producing process begins to combine with industrial processing and digital media and materials. Digital technique becomes a cutting-edge trend for creation. And many relatively young metalsmiths recently combine industrial and digital techniques and remain the unique sense of hand-making. The transformation of the affection to my hometown into cognitive map through digital map is embraced in the work. Moreover, in order to convey my emotion and further arouse emotional connection with receipts, I transfer signs into codes. The ‘craft’ in computer aid design and production connects the ‘craft’ in traditional metalsmithing. In this way, it materializes sense of handcraft, accuracy of digital technique, technique of industry, aesthetics of handcraft, and creativity of designers, and also remains merits of hand-making in handcraft and experiences happiness of hand-making.
