摘要


中文摘要 UMTS將訊務(Traffic)依服務品質之要求分為四類:交談類(Conversational Class)、串流類(Streaming Class)、互動類(Interactive Class)、背景類(Background Class)。這四類訊務各有其特性,所以對其QoS(Quality of Service)的要求亦不同。而DiffServ(Differentiated Services)差別性服務根據不同類別的訊務,給予不同的處理方法來達成QoS的目標。 本論文藉由NS-2模擬器模擬Best-Effort網路和DiffServ網路各種UMTS資料流服務,比較其網路中的效能及服務品質。實驗結果顯示出DiffServ的確能改善網路的服務品質。

ENGLISH ABSTRACT There are four different QoS (Quality of Service) classes for UMTS:conversational class、streaming class、interactive class and background class. To meet the different service requirement, the QoS mechanisms provided in the cellular network have to be robust and capable of providing reasonable QoS resolution. Differentiated Services, or DiffServ, is an IP QoS architecture based on packet marking that allows packets to be prioritized according to user requirements. The DiffServ architecture provides QoS by dividing traffic into different classes, marking each packet with a code point that indicates its category, and scheduling packets accordingly. In this thesis we simulate Best-Effort network and DiffServ network for four classes of UMTS traffic by NS-2 simulator and evaluate the performance of each service class. It shows that the adoption of DiffServ architecture can improve the QoS of network.
