Because petroleum resource is very limited and will be exhausted sooner or later, renewable energy has been the focus of research and development in many countries. The production of useful organic solvents from agricultural wastes by bacteria is one of the methods commonly used for energy production from biomass. In this way, not only does it recycle wastes but also produces energy. The main goal of this study is to examine the carbohydrate consumption and production of ABE in the cultures of Clostridium beijerinckii when different carbohydrate (xylose, maltose, arabinose, glucose or lactose ) was supplemented. Analysis of GC-FID和GC-MS indicated that addition of xylose or lactose resulted in higher production of butanol and ethanol.
