手杖為高齡者的基本行動輔具之一。市面上對於手杖的設計,除了基本功能、輔助行走或支撐重量外,也有些手杖結合了雨傘、椅座、手電筒及收聽資訊娛樂等附加功能。然而,這些附加功能是否符合高齡者的需求?是否能讓高齡者安全且方便使用?卻少有人探討。本研究之主旨為研究並設計適合高齡者使用的多功能手杖。 透過第一階段對 43 位高齡者的訪談,在手杖「安全方面」重視的為基本的輔助站、坐及走路平順和手杖不易傾倒、掉落易拾起、生理監測、意外通知及擴音呼救功能;在「生活用途方面」為燈光照明、防撞警示、訊息通知位置功能;而在「娛樂及保健用途」有結合簡易電話功能;並經由專家效度之問卷調查,以及關連性和相容性分析,結果顯示可規劃兩組設計,其中,選擇以 「危險意外通知、擴音呼救、防撞警示、燈光照明」進行整合多功能手杖功能配置的完整設計展開,綜合 30 位高齡者的意見選定適當的按鈕與介面配置,設計出「新式多功能手杖」。透過實際製作原型輔具進行情境模擬狀況的「多功能手杖使用功能操作」實驗,以統計分析 30 位高齡受測者研究資料,結果顯示本研究設計的多功能手杖於功能、操作上皆適合高齡者的使用。 以使用者觀點讓高齡者的需求層面能完整地呈現,本研究成果期望能讓高齡者單獨行動時,可增加活動範圍及增加自信心,並增加行動不便之高齡者使用手杖的意願。
Walking sticks are basic auxiliary tools for the elderly. Besides basic functions like assisting walking or supporting weights, some walking stickcs can also be used as umbrellas, seats, flashlights, and radios. However, are these functions useful for the elderly? Can the elderly use them safely and conveniently? There haven't been many discussions on these issues. The purpose of this research is to study walking sticks and design new ones with multiple functions to meet the elderly's demands. In the first stage, interviews had been conducted with 43 elderly people. In the aspect of “safety”, the emphases were on assisting standing, walking, and sitting, being able to stand well, being easy to pick up, physiological monitoring, emergency notification, and megaphone for calling for help. In the aspect of “livehood”, the emphases were on lighting, collision-proof waning, and location information. In the aspect of “entertainment and health care”, the emphases were on simple telephone functions. After task analysis and expert validation, correlaiton analysis and compatibility analysis had been performed. The results showed that two sets of designs can be planned. The set with “emergency notification, megaphone for calling for help, collision-proof waning, and lighting” was used to be integrated with walking sticks. The opinions from 30 elderly people were summarized for choosing the suitable buttoms and UI design to creat “new multi-function walking sticks”. The walking stick prototypes had actually been used in simulated “Operation the Multi-function Walking Sticks” experiements. The data from the 30 elderly people were analyzied with statistical methods. And the result showed that the walking sticks designed for this research were suitable for the elderly in the aspects of both functions and operating. The users' points of view can completely reveal the elderly's demands In this research, it is hoped that the newly-designed walking sticks can help the elderly to be able to expand their exercise ranges and create more confidence when they are alone by themselves. This way, the elderly would be more willing to use walking sticks.
