遠距共存感營造之設計與系統架構開發

摘要


日常生活之中,人與人之間的社交關係扮演了相當重要的角色,然而,在現今環境下,家人、情人或是朋友,經常是分佈在世界中的各個地點,因此,如何透過『共存感』的營造,使雙方可以有如處於同個空間一般,感覺到彼此的存在並維持情感交流與社交關係,就成了一個重要的課題。傳統的電腦介面設計,將所有資訊都集中在螢幕上呈現,且使用者必須將全部注意力擺放於其上,然而隨著各種運算裝置無所不在的融入生活之中,將允許藉由周遭環境呈現一些與當前工作不相干、較不重要的資訊,讓人們即使現正忙於其他的工作或活動,也可以透過五官感覺環境變化的同時,得到所關心的資訊。在這篇論文之中,主要將陳述我們所提出的設計步驟及開發架構,是如何幫助其他設計師快速、有結構化的方式,來開發一套使用周遭環境呈現資訊以營造共存感的系統。而本研究的貢獻在於對如何讓分隔兩地、且有著親密關係的雙方在進行通訊的同時,產生兩人是處於同一空間的這種『共存感』進行探討,讓其他有興趣進行相關研究的人可以快速瞭解共存感之概念、定義及相關應用領域,之後,提出一個用來開發出讓人們達到『共存感』系統或應用時,可以依循的設計步驟與實做架構,且描述我們如何依此進行兩個案例的開發,並做討論。

Social relationships play an important role in our everyday lives. Nevertheless, our lives have changed quite drastically in the past decades. Today, social groups are often constantly or temporarily spatially separated. Thus, it becomes more and more important to develop methods to promote feeling of co-presence with non-collocated couples on an emotional and social level. Traditionally, computer interfaces have been confined to conventional displays and focused activities. However, as displays become embedded throughout our environment and daily lives, increasing numbers of them must operate on the periphery of our attention. Ambient displays can allow a person to be aware of information while she is attending to some other primary task or activity. In this study, we present an architecture that provides structured support for developing of ambient co-presence. Our contribution is the investigation of issues specific to ambient co-presence design, then providing a design process and an architecture that encapsulates support for these issues. We describe our architecture and present two samples demonstrating the capabilities.
