摘要
口腔的功能當中,對牙醫師而言攝食應是最重要的功能。此功能包括食物的確認、食物的攝取、及食物的處理,必須靠許多組織與器官的配合與協調來達成。因此任何與攝食功能有關的運動系或感覺系的組織或器官在發育成熟過程中發生問題時,不但會影響比功能的效率,也可能會加重其他組織與器官的負擔。如何讓患者有效地發揮此功能乃是牙醫師的義務與責任,尤其兒童牙科醫師必須了解孩童成長發育與顎功能變化之間的關係,才能正確地決定治療目標與計畫。本篇報告整理了兒童顎齒列發育與咀嚼功能發育之間的關條。(Taiwan J Pediatr Dent 2(4): 92-97, 2002)

Eating must be the most important function of mouth from a dental standpoint. The eating function includes check the food, ingest the food, and manage the food and be achieved by the regulation of many tissues and organs. If there were any problems with mature process in these motor or sensory organs, not only the efficacy of the function would be interfered but also the other organs would overload. It is dentist's duty and responsibility to display the patient's ability of eating function, especially pediatric dentists should understand the relationship between child growth and masticatory functional changes to correctly decide treatment goal and planning. This report summarized the relations between dentofacial growth and masticatory function. (Taiwan J Pediatr Dent 2(4): 92-97,2002)
