When children come to dental treatment under conscious sedation or general anesthesia,the effectsof conscious sedation and general anesthesia on children and parents need to be considered.In thisarticle,we reviewed several studies on the behavioral changes of children undergoing dentaltreatment using conscious sedation or general anesthesia,and the parents'attitude as well.Thechildren received dental procedure under conscious sedation did not have more negative behavioralchanges as compared with those of general anesthesia.Conscious sedation was more accepted by theparents.This may offer another option when considering dental treatment plan for the children.(Taiwan J Pediatr Dent 3(4):183-186,2003)
